Seussical

Hofstra University, 2016

written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty

directed by Peter Charney

choreography by Gina Arfi

music direction by Andy Abrams

Through a special agreement with MTI, I was able to reimagine Ahrens and Flaherty's Seussical for a touring cast of 8 actors, intended for an audience of college-aged students. We removed the character of The Cat in the Hat and stripped away all of the visuals we've come to associate with Dr. Seuss. Instead, we focused on Jojo, Horton, and the journey they lead us on; taking us away from the "Waiting Place" and towards an imaginative world of make believe. Our production was found through various ensemble theatre methods including devising, arts & crafts, clowning, and puppetry.

We showed all of the big kids in our audiences that just because we are getting older, it doesn't mean we have to grow up.
